3-Axis CNC Milling – Precision Manufacturing of Candle Filter Bases

At Arpol CNC, we specialize in professional 3-axis machining on CNC milling machines, offering precise milling of components from a wide range of materials, including 1.8519 steel, as demonstrated in the machining of candle filter bases. For this project, we used a DMG CMX1100V milling machine equipped with Sinumerik 840D control, ensuring high accuracy, reliability, and outstanding CNC machining results.

The entire process began with an analysis of the supplied STEP model, based on which we created a CAM program in SolidCAM. Using this software, we generated the G-code and uploaded it to the machine. The DMG CMX1100V 3-axis milling center required proper selection of machining parameters and the use of additional options, such as through-spindle cooling. The table size played a key role, as the workpiece barely fit within the machine’s machining envelope.

During machining, we applied high-efficiency roughing using HSR (High Speed Roughing) technology, utilizing cutting tools from renowned manufacturers Iscar and Ceratizit. For finishing operations, we used a Ø8 ball-nose end mill in HSM (High Speed Machining) technology, which allowed us to achieve a perfectly smooth surface. Precision machining was especially critical in producing 150 threaded holes, where even the slightest deviation could affect the quality of the final product.

After completing the CNC milling process, we performed thorough inspection of the threads and verified the hole positions to ensure full compliance with the required specifications. Thanks to advanced CAM software and high-precision cutting tools, we are capable of completing even the most demanding CNC milling projects.
